Bi Bim Bap

Bi bim bap means mixed rice in Korean.

It is a bowl of rice often served in a hot stone pot (so that the rice becomes nice and crispy on the side where it touches the bowl) with vegetables, meat, an egg, and various sauces on top. Then the entire dish is mixed just before it is eaten.

I was completely unfamiliar with this dish until I saw it on Masterchef where in one episode the contestents had to create their own version of Bi bim bap.

The Korean dish stone Pot Bi Bim Bap served in a restaurant inside Pacific Mall.

So I have decided to reduce my ignorance about Korean cuisine and went to a restaurant that serves Korean dishes — the same one where I had jjampong the other day — to try out some bi bim bap.

It is a simple yet satisfying meal, I can definitely see why the dish is so popular in Korea and around the world.
