The Florida box turtle is an turtle from the swamps of Florida.
Unlike most turtles the Florida box turtle is not really aquatic, and prefers to just sit in the water instead of actually swimming in it. Also somewhat atypical for turtles is the diet of the Florida box turtle which is truly omnivorous consisting on lots of different animals as well as fruits and green vegetables.
Florida box turtles can be kept as pets. They do require an enclosure with opaque walls — not unusual for turtles and tortoises — and a humid environment.
