White-tailed Eagle

The white-tailed eagle is a large bird of prey that lives all over the Eurasian continent.

I took this picture from a distance through the wire mesh of the aviary housing the Eagle.

The white-tailed eagle is a close relative of the bald eagle and it occupies the same ecological niche in Eurasia as its cousin in North America.

White-tailed eagles do well in the wild and are not particularly endangered in any way. In spite of that they do enjoy protection under the law in many countries. Which is all good since all animals who live high on the food chain are vulnerable to pesticides and other chemicals in the environment.
