Giant Gourami

The giant gourami is a rather large freshwater fish from Malaysia.

A giant gourami like is like other smaller gouramis that people keep as pets in their home aquariums, just quite a bit larger. Like any other gourami it can, and in fact must, breath air using its labyrinth organ in its gills.

The Toronto Zoo has these fish in the Malayan Woods and the Indomalaya exhibits.
The giant gourami can grow over 70cm long, yet some people keep it as a pet even though it requires a huge aquarium (over 200 gallons).
