Duncan Coral

Duncanopsammia axifuga is a large polyp stony coral that comes from the waters around Australia.

Duncan corals do need strong light since they are photosynthetic but not nearly as strong a light as small polyped stony corals. They also need to eat some plankton on a regular basis. Otherwise they can be hardy and beautiful aquarium inhabitants.

Unfortunately the specimen shown in the picture has died during a long power blackout.
