This years Canadian Reptile Breeders’ Expo was held in the International Center in Mississauga along with this fall’s Canadian Pet Expo.
The event took place Sep 10-11, 2016. As usual I went there to stare at animals and take pictures, as well as in the hope to pick up some ‘exotic’ food for my pet frogs (which was just not meant to be).
The expo did have the usual cat and dog show along with the reptile breeders’ expo.
There were also companies and organizations catering to avian pets.
Apart from breeders there were all sorts of businesses catting to the pet owner’s needs. Companies manufacturing and selling dog leashes, cat accessories, various pet treats were all over the place. Including businesses catering to your pet’s needs your pet did not even know about.
I usually tend to find exotic ingredients ridiculous even in human food and dietary supplements, but when they appear in pet shampoo I am speechless. Really, don’t you have better things to worry about than where the minerals in your pet’s bath water have come from?
There were also companies manufacturing equipment to operate terrariums and vivariums.
This year even the marine aquarium hobby was represented by the Marine Aquarium Society of Toronto.
Of course I was more interested in amphibians and reptiles.
There were the usual bearded dragons, hundreds of ball python morphs for sale, as well as lots of leopard geckos.
Mostly the fancy color morphs of the popular species, since it was a breeder’s expo, so the more domesticated varieties dominated the show.
