The Giant freshwater puffer is a pufferfish from the rivers and lakes of Africa. Unlike most of its relatives the giant freshwater puffer lives in fresh water, not in the ocean.
The adult size of the giant freshwater pufferfish is really large, almost 70 centimeters long, and it requires plenty of swimming space. In captivity the giant freshwater puffer requires tank of about two cubic meters with a sufficiently large filtration system — somethign that is beyond what most home aquarists can provide.
