The spiny softshell turtle is a large freshwater turtle from North America.
Spiny softshelled turtles are truly aquatic and spend a lot of time in water. Even though a spiny softshell turtle is a rather large turtle some people like to keep one as a pet. If you do consider keeping one think about the animals adult size which can be over 18 inches long for a female, and the amount of water needed for an animal of that size to swim in.
