The radiated tortoise is a species of large tortoise from Madagascar.

Each plate of the radiated tortoise’s shell has a radiated pattern, hence the name.
Radiated tortoises are vegetarian, mostly herbivorous but they do occasionally eat pieces of fruit.

Radiated tortoises are critically endangered in the wild, mostly due to habitat loss. The specimens features in these pictures live in the African Rainforest Pavilion inside the Toronto Zoo.
