The thorny devil stick insect is a large stick insect from New Guinea and other nearby islands.
In spite of their threatening names thorny devil stick insects are vegetarian and will not try to eat you.
Apparently some people keep these insects as pets and even breed them in captivity.
In the absence of males Eurycantha calcarata females can reproduce by parthenogenesis (“virgin birth”).
