Tiger bee fly is a fly whose larvae prey on the larvae and pupae of solitary bees.
I took this picture when I was photographing the Bluffer’s Park Marina it was sitting on a wooden post that held a sign. Being completely unfamiliar with this insect I thought it was another member of the family Ulidiidae, but after some search on the Internet I have realized that it wasn’t so and in fact it belongs to a different family altogether the Bombyliidae, the bee flies.
