Dendrophyllia corals do not contain zooxanthellae and they do not require light to live. They do need to eat on a regular basis though.
Because of that they do not require light to live the way most corals do, but they must eat small meaty sea food. They can eat planktonic food, but they also will try to kill and eat much bigger animals. They can be kept in a reef aquarium, although they are somewhat expensive and grow slowly.
