In Asian culture manadarin duck are a symbol for love and spousal fidelity. So it is a good thing that I have managed to take a picture of these two as a pair.<\/p>\n
A pair of mandarin ducks (Aix galericulata<\/em>) in the Indomalaya exhibit of the Toronto Zoo<\/a>.<\/p><\/div>\n The male mandarin duck has a very colorful plumage and a red beak. The female mandarin duck has more modest colors and does not look like the male.<\/p>\n This pair of mandarin ducks were kept in the moat in front of the Malayan Tapir<\/a> \/ Babirusa<\/a> exhibit indoors.<\/p>\n The same pair of mandarin ducks.<\/p><\/div>\n In the wild mandarin ducks are doing well in spite of some habitat destruction in their native East Asia.
