Probably belonging to the species <em>Muriceopsis flavida<\/em> which is known as the purple feather gorgonian or purple brush gorgonian.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\n<div id=\"attachment_700\" style=\"width: 760px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Gorgonianjpg.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-700\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Gorgonianjpg.jpg\" alt=\"Purple gorgonian coral.\" width=\"750\" height=\"1250\" class=\"size-full wp-image-700\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Gorgonianjpg.jpg 750w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Gorgonianjpg-180x300.jpg 180w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Gorgonianjpg-614x1024.jpg 614w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-700\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Purple gorgonian coral.<\/p><\/div><\/p>\n<p>I have acquired this specimen during a recent <a href=\"\/2014\/02\/15\/new-coral-frags\/\" title=\"New Coral Frags\">coral cutting workshop<\/a> in a Marine Aquarium Society of Toronto meeting.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_701\" style=\"width: 460px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Gorgonian2.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-701\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Gorgonian2.jpg\" alt=\"Purple gorgonian coral.\" width=\"450\" height=\"1000\" class=\"size-full wp-image-701\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Gorgonian2.jpg 450w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Gorgonian2-135x300.jpg 135w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-701\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Purple gorgonian coral.<br \/>Observe the delicate polyps.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I don&#8217;t have a lot of experience keeping gorgonians and I have only picked up this frag because there were so many of them lying around during the workshop, so I have decided to give it a try.
