The box tree moth is native to East Asia but it has become an invasive pest all over Europe.

Box tree moth (Cydalima perspectalis<\/em>), Bakony<\/a>, Hungary<\/a>.<\/p><\/div>\n

Its caterpillars mostly feed on the leaves of box tree (Buxus<\/em>) species. Where this moth has no natural predators and its population can grow unchecked the box tree moth can become very destructive.<\/p>\n

The species has only appeared in Hungary<\/a> in 2011 but it is already becoming somewhat common in some areas. <\/p>\n
