The red ruffed lemur is one of the two species of ruffed lemurs the other one being the black-and-white ruffled lemur. Like most lemurs red ruffled lemurs are endemic to Madagascar.<\/p>\n

Red ruffed lemur (Varecia rubra<\/em>), Veszpr\u00e9m Zoo<\/a>.<\/p><\/div>\n

Ruffed lemurs are the largest lemurs. Red ruffled lemur mainly eat fruit (frugivores) as well as other plant parts.<\/p>\n

Red ruffled lemurs are social animals and usually live in matriarchal groups consiting of a few individuals up to a few dozen.<\/p>\n

These pictures were taken in the Veszpr\u00e9m Zoo<\/a> where a group of red ruffed lemurs were frolicking outside, enjoying their spacious enclosure.<\/p>\n
