Fennec fox (Vulpes zerda), Budapest Zoo.

Fennecs have large ears in order to hear their prey in the dark. The fennec fox is the smallest canid species. Fennec foxes form family groups and live together, even form larger packs which is unusual for a fox.

Fennec foxes are sometimes kept as pets, sort of how one would keep a dog or cat, but regulations vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction so you must check with the local authorities before getting one. Also the potential owner must be aware that fennec foxes are even more carnivorous than cats and they must eat a high protein diet with lots of meat and insects and eggs with fruits/vegetables only offered as treats. As a desert animal used to make do with whatever it can find a fennec will eat almost any food that is offered to it, but eating a high fiber low protein diet will cause serious disease in a fennec.
