{"id":1642,"date":"2014-12-22T15:06:56","date_gmt":"2014-12-22T20:06:56","guid":{"rendered":"\/?p=1642"},"modified":"2014-12-22T15:06:56","modified_gmt":"2014-12-22T20:06:56","slug":"brown-bear","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"\/2014\/12\/22\/brown-bear\/","title":{"rendered":"Brown Bear"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As I have mentioned in an earlier post, the brown bear in Eurasia is the same species of bear what is known as the <a href=\"\/2014\/09\/20\/grizzly-bear\/\" title=\"Grizzly Bear\">grizzly bear<\/a> in North America.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>To show how a brown bear looks like I took a picture of one living in the <a href=\"\/places\/hungary\/budapest\/budapest-zoo\/\" title=\"Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden\">Budapest Zoo<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1641\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Syrian-Brown-Bear.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1641\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Syrian-Brown-Bear.jpg\" alt=\"A Syrian brown bear.\" width=\"800\" height=\"400\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1641\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Syrian-Brown-Bear.jpg 800w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Syrian-Brown-Bear-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1641\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A Syrian brown bear (<em>Ursus arctos syriacus<\/em>), <a href=\"\/places\/hungary\/budapest\/budapest-zoo\/\" title=\"Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden\">Budapest Zoo<\/a>.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The brown bear in the picture is a Syrian brown bear which is somewhat smaller than other subspecies of brown bear, nevertheless it is still a formidable animal.<\/p>\n<p>The brown bear below is of a more massively built subspecies, the Kamchatka brown bear, and it lives in the <a href=\"\/places\/hungary\/veszprem\/veszprem-zoo\/\" title=\"Veszpr\u00e9m Zoo\">Veszpr\u00e9m Zoo<\/a>.
