Arctic fox (Vulpes lagopus), Toronto Zoo.

Arctic foxes are part of the Canadian wild life but they are fairly common all over the north in North America and Eurasia, as well as in Greenland and Iceland and other smaller islands.

Arctic foxes mostly eat lemmings but they would eat any small animal they can kill including other rodents and birds and even baby seals. Arctic foxes will also eat the meat of other larger animals if they find them already dead.

Arctic foxes have a fairly large range and a population of a healthy size so globally they are not endangered, but some local populations especially in Northern Europe are considered to be endangered.

The arctic fox in the picture above lives in the Toronto Zoo where arctic foxes were rather lethargic throughout the summer but once the temperature started to drop they have started playing like kittens.
