The African spurred tortoise is the largest tortoise in Africa.

African spurred tortoise (Centrochelys sulcata<\/em>), Szeged Zoo<\/a>.<\/p><\/div><\/p>\n The African spurred tortoise in the picture lives in the Szeged Zoo<\/a> in Hungary<\/a> and I have seen it wandering around very slowly what looked like an office building on the zoo grounds.<\/p>\n In the wild the African spurred tortoise lives in Africa around the southern edge of the Sahara desert. African spurred tortoises grow up to about thirty-odd inches long and can live over a hundred years.
