The thorny devil stick insect is a large stick insect from New Guinea and other nearby islands.

In spite of their threatening names thorny devil stick insects are vegetarian and will not try to eat you.<\/p>\n

Apparently some people keep these insects as pets and even breed them in captivity.<\/p>\n

In the absence of males Eurycantha calcarata<\/em> females can reproduce by parthenogenesis (“virgin birth”).<\/p>\n
