The Eurasian eagle-owl is a predator and it eats all sorts of small animals, such as small rodents like mice and rats, rabbits and hares but it also eats hedgehogs using its huge talons to grab the unfortunate hedgehog and skin it before eating it. The Eurasian eagle-owl will also eat any bird it can catch as well as reptiles, frogs, insects and worms.

The Eurasian eagle-owl has a large range and and their number is large thus they are not of particular concern for conservationists.
